The New Job

Before I go into the outbuildings and basements... I'll post this palate cleanser from the new job.

This happens every 10 to 40 seconds depending on the machine and part being made.  The audio isn't really done any justice by this cell phone clip.  When the machine indexes to the next bar it can be felt and the hum of the recording sounds very small in comparison to actuality.

Sometimes I look at the oil pan and pretend I'm actually making espresso.  mezmerizing.
Lori takes care of the garden...its self serve.. how awesome is that.

Years later... this war machine now makes modern humvee parts.

Fresh air

This is my area. I would shuffle bundles of rods around with the forklift and bring them to the production room to stamp. I would then use the crane to place the bundle next to the machines  and have stock ready for the next shift. The red garage door at the end of the stock room was my fresh air. I spent much of my time staring at the sun fall and the moon rise.  This is also where I would load trucks with skids of parts I would always have my headphones on and I would need to recharge during lunch every day. I used my phone to apply for jobs and work on my resume.  As long as I finished my job no one said a word to me... they were glad to have someone who showed up on time and had the drivers license required to obtain a lift truck permit.  I was told by my supervisor on the day I hired in to " just be a ghost."

The Clinic

I believe this is actually an old school copy machine.
The hallway to the waiting room doesn't look like its been walked through in many years.
This is some sort of central common area ...surrounding it are half a dozen small rooms with vinyl sliding doors for privacy.
Each small room has the same chair and small sink like item that is low to the ground... will someone tell me what this thing is for?

There is also a small sound chamber to test for hearing... I was going to test it out but when I closed the door the putrid rotting smell was too much.

The benches in the waiting portion look like church pews. It looks like someone ran some new electrical work through the ceiling here about one inch of dust ago and I don't see any signs of foot traffic disturbing the debris and paint chips falling from the ceiling. I don't blame anyone for not coming in here.... if you weren't sick before you came to the clinic ...just stick around and breath deeply for a while.

Most every space here gives off a bad vibe.  I'm a skeptic and I don't really believe in ghosts...but you can only see and hear so many things before you start doubting your senses... this is definitely a space you don't want to be alone in the dark by your self....... also .... Dave does suck.

Ground Floor "Easter Eggs"

this bright item stands out like a sore thumb... or rather... the only thumb that isn't so sore.
There are two rooms to house the buildings own fire and rescue vehicles.now partially blocked off with random debris.
I thought the bike looked more interesting than its fancy final resting place.

but nothing too special.

It was hard to get a good look at this awesome vehicle because of the cramped space it barely fit in.
I would love to add some info on this old school fire truck if anyone can find anything.  It appears it can hook up to the fire hose extension stations...they look like big flat red dog houses and contain large lengths of fire hose.

Oh look...I found the key...it's my lucky day....I'm bustin out of this place....I just need one more piece of vital firetruck driving equipment.

I look shocked because it was pitch black and the flash was blinding.... needless to say there was no escape despite my best efforts to look good while acting like a child driving nascar.

 The boss's rides....I think...

More trapped in time 2nd floor

I can play a mean version of the intro to Pink Floyd's "money" on these two adding machines. I can just Imagine some accountant in the 50's... sure let me just get out my calculator. THUD.clang clang clang clang clang..

The stage in the old auditorium....there is too much dust in the air to jam out for the ghosts of industries past though

The first time I saw this it changed how I see this place...It used to be a mecca... they have their own fire truck(coming soon) their own clinic, 1500 lockers... This was a booming metropolis of the rise of the industrial age....One of the major factories making Detroit into the motor city.

A few broken windows allow for a break in the still air but also allows the rain to get in ...and grow something

It seems they left quick... boots and all. Everything from the time the GM plant closed down in the 80's

It seems cleaner because of the flash...this bathroom hasn't been used in decades. The tile work is pefect ...toilets, sinks, urinals... all blue.  The musty smell here is unique.

This is where superman smokes his crack
