These are cell phone clips with the worst audio possible.  but Mp3s will be coming soon.

What is it?

With the octave button this little keyboard can span a full 8 octaves.  The touch pads can instantly trigger any sound.
Sampling is the act of "triggering" a single sound, a drum beat, a drum loop, a musical phrase, or an entire song with the push of a button.

AKAI pro MPK digital audio work station and midi controller

Let me start by saying that I think Sarah went way overboard for me this year.  I recieved a package the other day.... expecting origami paper.... maybe a hackey sack.
instead I shocked, surprised, stunned(literally frozen in place) when I opened the box.
i couldn't believe my eyes.
I fought the urge to call her immediately with exuberant delight.  Instead....I thought I should make sure it works with my software first.....(I had to break this up into several days....obsession and daydreaming about it at work)....7 hours, 3 online manuals, and 5 youtube tutorials laterI had a fully functional AKAI mini MPK pro digital key board midi controller....that completely owns my heart... after 5 straight hours of experimentation. I came up with a few sample clips to show what kinds  of insane muscle this tiny machine really has.

At Last

One last shot of the skyline from the roof top....then a special clip that makes me feel patriotic and sentimental for a time Ive never lived through...working in an booming auto plant in a place once known as the Motor City.

It may seem small distant and unimpressive....but you had to be there...

These clips should give you a better idea of just how dark it was and what it was like walking around with just a flashlight.  I apologize for the shakey-cellphone video quality.
You'll notice the puddles everywhere...it rained the night before...it also puts out an aweful smell of the four floors above us being rinsed down to the ground level.

Basement "B"

The "B" basement is much different...Its hot...they must keep the air circulating...a motion light scares my heart into overdrive once I reach the bottom of the stairs high ceilings.. smaller area... all the plumbing access... the furnace and the freight elevator workings(where it it rumored that someone was crushed to death)

The rusty freight elevator shaft hasn't been in use for years...no sign of trauma though

Tried to find info on this classic furnace.. but no markings or writing
notice some classy graffiti on the way out.

Giant water holding tanks line the walls. I cleared the silence by tapping on one with my flashlight...sounds empty.

maybe this is why the water upstairs is non-potable
As I'm pacing forward trying to take a stop-motion-flip-book-walkthrough view I think I hear something off to my right ...maybe the animal that brings the fresh ramen and vending machine wrappers down ...but no ...just another 1950's gurney...I'm not feeling so well all of a sudden...I fight the urge to lie down....then try not to think of why the gurney would be down here in the first place....and why they didnt bring it back up...

The opening leads to a long hall designed to service the pumbing.  The inch or so of water is silently flowing in the direction I'm walking....

Another faint cloud of fog tells me to keep making sure nothing is behind me.

And on...and on....almost the entire length of the building....the water slowly gets deeper.  The water dripping down the walls in several spots...finally trickling down from the leaking roof.

the other end of the basement is finally in sight... the door is open but no air is coming down... and no sounds either.

How quaint...exept for the white hairs growing on the chair.. someone really didn't want to be discovered taking a break.
Probably the last time I'll be this happy to see  a staircase that looks like this.

The dense atmosphere finally begins to subside.

Do Not Disturb

Ive previously spoke of smells and sounds .....a mustiness in the air.  The basement is different.  At first appearence it seems like the rest of the building.  There is more in the air than mold down here...there is no sound.  As soon I pass the landing I can feel the moisture coating me...the atmosphere sucks the air from my lungs and there is something else....something just seems wrong.  The feeling is surreal... its another realm... another plane..it's colder as I descend the last of the stairs.

Dont believe everything you read.....the internet told me that once...besides...im sure the fire marshal hasnt been around recent
ly to check if this door stays closed...despite his orders.  The "DO NOT DISTURB" I believe was written by the ghost of Doverspike.  I probably should have heeded this warning.

A fog would literally come and go at random.  a long cooridor with no echo.  only the occasional drip and my own breathing through my respirator.
the ghost of doverspike shows its self.
